The classes and modalities at ALIVE Retreats have been curated to align with our philosophy of the Mind/Body/Spirit connection.

Our practitioners and teachers look forward to sharing their experience and teachings with you.

 
Nutrition & Physical Care
Acupuncture/Group Acupuncture

Group Acupuncture treatments will focus on gut health and cleansing, as well as decreasing the effects of stress. Individual/private sessions with Rick Halsted L.Ac. will also be available for an additional fee.

Castor Oil Packs

A castor oil pack is an external application of castor oil to the body. A piece of wool or cotton flannel is saturated with castor oil and applied to a specified area, with or without heat. Castor oil packs improve assimilations, eliminations, and circulation (especially of the lymphatic system). Castor oil packs are recommended as part of a holistic approach for epilepsy, gallstones, scleroderma, constipation, and other intestinal conditions.

Restorative Food & Preparation

Classes will be held demonstrating how to prepare some of the restorative, anti-inflammatory foods served at the retreat for your use at home (examples include fermenting sauerkraut, growing sprouts, making energy soup and raw crackers).

Gut Health & Colon Care

When your digestive system receives and absorbs the nutrition it needs, and its elimination process is functioning well, you have a strong foundation of health. When it is not working well, toxic byproducts build up and negatively impact every system in your body. In these classes you will learn why the gut is so vital to our physical and emotional health. You will learn how many of the techniques we are practicing in the retreat benefit your digestive health and how to bring them into your daily lives. 

Naturopathic Hydrotherapy

Viewing the blood as the vehicle conveying life to all cells (oxygen, nutrients, etc.), naturopathic constitutional hydrotherapy manipulates the circulation in order to maximize the benefits of this process for overall health and healing. It enhances the immune response, improves overall nutrition, promotes detoxification and helps restore nervous equilibrium. Naturopathic constitutional hydrotherapy works because it helps to optimize the quality of blood, while improving the efficiency of its circulation.

Oil-Pulling

Oil-pulling is an oral detoxification procedure that is simply done by swishing a tablespoon of oil (typically coconut, castor, olive, or sesame oil) in your mouth for 10-20 minutes.

Wheatgrass Juicing

Wheatgrass juice is one of the best sources of living chlorophyll available, and an effective healer because it contains all minerals known to man, as well as vitamins A, B-complex, C, E, L and K. It is extremely rich in protein and contains 17 amino acids — the building blocks of protein. There will be daily opportunities to juice, drink, and learn about wheatgrass, where to get it, and how to juice it for your use at home.

Mind & Spirit
Human Design

Human Design teaches that each one of us is a vital piece of the puzzle of humanity. All of the pieces connect beautifully to support the whole of humanity. Each and every individual has an important role to live out on this planet. At the very least, understanding your design can give you a deeper and richer sense of self-awareness. This awareness can give you the freedom to make choices that are in alignment with your true nature. Living out your highest expression of your true self is honoring your role, your purpose, your truth.

One-on-one sessions will be available for an additional fee. 

iRest / Integrative Restoration Meditation

iRest is a guided meditation protocol that allows you to find and build on your innate sense of well-being. We have all experienced more capacity of being with life’s difficulties when we are calm and centered. During iRest, we observe and welcome various aspects of our waking experience, starting with the most physical form, our body, then moving through more subtle layers, the breath, feelings, emotions, beliefs and joy. As we welcome everything that is present in the body and mind, our thoughts and emotions begin to grow calmer. In the process we discover and connect to the aspect of ourselves that is always peaceful and at ease.

Meditation

Through the practice of meditation, we come to experience the present moment with calm clarity and an open, non-grasping quality of awareness. This is a doorway to deeper insight into the nature of our minds, and our relationship with the world around us. This class will be appropriate for any level of meditation experience.

Mind/Body Synergy

As we all know, our modern times are filled with challenges and complexities. Humanity is at a time of great opportunity. To take the next leap forward in human evolution we need to increase our capacity to handle these increasing challenges and complexities. There many amazing ancient techniques that are being revealed to the public as well as new insights from the study of neuroscience. The Mind/Body Synergy technique synthesizes these ancient and new insights. Practicing this technique, we clear the energetic channels, and inquire into the relationship we have with ourselves and the world around us. At the end of the series participants will have developed their own unique affirmations to practice in their daily life. Mind/Body Synergy helps us align with our true nature which increases our capacity to live fulfilling, empowered lives. As we dedicate our growth and new capacity to the benefit of ALL beings, the synergy will be even stronger.

Body Movement
 
NeuroMovement

As the brain goes, so goes the body, and as the body goes, so goes the brain. NeuroMovement is a holistic approach to human functioning and action, based on the understanding that movement is the language of the brain. Movement provides information the brain needs to grow and organize itself. In return, the brain organizes all movement, thought, feelings and action. Movement includes not only movement of the body in space—the movement of the skeleton and muscles—but also the movement of thinking, emotion, and feelings/sensations. 

Lymph Drainage Exercise / Rebounding

If you spend a lot of time sitting and don’t move your body each day, the lymph can get stagnant, leading to an accumulation of waste in the body. Taking medications and supplemental hormones, being exposed to environmental toxins such as food additives and pesticides in processed, non-organic foods, plus air pollution and unfiltered water give the lymph system a lot of extra work.

This is a fun trampoline class set to music that helps your lymph system move. One way the lymphatic system is different from the blood system is that it doesn’t have a dedicated pump to move its fluid as the heart pumps the blood. Instead, this system actually relies on you using your muscles to keep things moving. And all that fluid has to travel upward against gravity to circulate normally. Particularly while cleansing, we want our lymph to be on the move, clearing up any toxins that are being released.

Qigong

Using gentle movements, a focused mind and sound vibration in these classes, we will shift our awareness and upgrade our capacities to embody, heal and function at higher, more coherent level. This class is open to everyone who would like to step into and experience a potent healing field.

Group Healing
Group Acupuncture

Drumming, Dancing, & Bonfire

Drumming and dancing is not only fun, it can be a powerful transformative experience. The beat of the drum connects us to to our heartbeat, opening us to a level of deep listening. This deep listening allows us to let go of stress and worry, and experience being in the present moment.

Sound Healing

Sound Healing has been in existence for thousands of years. Indigenous cultures around the world have long known the healing benefits of sound, music and the voice when combined with pure intention. The power of sound to transform physical, emotional and mental states of being is a well known fact. It can also open us to deeper aspects of our own spiritual potential. At ALIVE retreats you will have the opportunity to experience the transformative effects of sound, voice and music healing in a group setting. As you let go of daily concerns and stress, your nervous system will begin to unwind and recalibrate, finding its innate ability to rest and restore. This in turn will support your overall sense of wellbeing, health and vitality. Individual sound healing sessions can be scheduled with Barbara Juniper for an additional fee.

Private Sessions

Private sessions in Acupuncture, Massage, Human Design, NeuroMovement and Sound Healing will be available daily for an additional fee, and booked directly with practitioners at the retreat. Classes and private sessions are subject to change.
